EEI Update


MORE NEWdraft Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI) curriculum units are now available on the web for review. We will continue to inform you as new units are posted. These posted units are in draft form, have been reviewed by content experts for technical accuracy, and are now being field tested by teachers in California. Additional draft units will be posted as soon as they are available and will remain on the web for 30 days.

No Child Left Inside:

The No Child Left Inside Act of 2007 has passed in Congress!!!


  • Provides federal funding to states to train teachers in environmental education and to operate model environmental education programs, which include outdoor learning.
  • Provides funding to states that create environmental literacy plans to ensure that high school graduates are environmentally literate.
  • Provides funding through an environmental education grant program to build state and national capacity.
  • Re-establishes the Office of Environmental Education within the U.S. Department of Education.
