The Mojave Environmental Education Consortium received the 2004 San Bernardino County Educational "Volunteers in Action -Service Group" Medal Of Honor for contributions to public education in school districts throughout the county. The MEEC organization has done just this by partnering with schools such as Oro Grande Middle School and Victor Valley College to teach students about Environmental Conservation. The Criteria for the award is that the recipient be "A nonprofit group which creates awareness for education in community, makes impact and lasting contribution, serves as a positive role model, provides support for education." Winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at Ruth O. Harris Middle School in Bloomington. MEEC is proud to be recognized by San Bernardino County for its contributions in education throughout the high desert.
