"Bright Ideas" Grants- Spring Deadline - March 20, 2010
PG&E has
expanded its Bright Ideas Grant Program to include new categories that
will provide additional learning opportunities for students and
teachers while creating energy and money saving programs for school
campuses throughout northern and central California. Credentialed
teachers, professors, instructors, principals, deans, department heads,
district administrators and facilities managers may apply to receive $1000, $2,500, $5000, or $10,000 grants to promote environmental stewardship in any of the five following categories. - Educational Solar Projects
- Youth Energy and Environmental Programs
- Renewable Energy or Science Related Field Trips
- Green Your School Projects
- Professional Development/Service Learning Projects/ Workforce Development Programs

Field Trips
Whiskeytown Environmental School 8 miles from Redding, Ca is still accepting reservations for Fall 2009 Clear Creek Field Lab. These are standards based 1/2 day K-4th field trips with lessons taught in the wilderness. Kindergartners catch tadpoles in the pond and 1st graders collect insects in the creek. Second graders find seeds that travel. Third graders compare pond and creek animals. Fourth graders conduct a chemical analysis of the water quality. Up to 60 students at a time, $6/student. Awards for Teachers 2010 Richard C. Bartlett Award - Deadline: January 15th, 2010 The National Environmental Education Foundation is seeking outstanding highschool teachers who have successfully integrated environmental education into daily curriculum. The Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award recognizes educators who serve as an inspiration for students and model for other teachers. Winners receive a $5,000 award to continue their work in environmental education. Winners will also be flown to D.C. to meet with members of the environmental education community and honored during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Contact: Meghan Trossen , Richrad C. CSTA Workshops Online- Don't worry if you wern't able to make it to the CSTA conference this year, the workshops are going to be posted on CSTA's website for you to view. To present at next year's CSTA in Sacramento (and recieve a discount on conference cost) presenttaion are due to CSTA in February.
