The district is offering multiple four-year scholarships for students in Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties. The district received a grant of $360,000 from the College Access Foundation of California. The scholarships "are not a reward for good grades or leadership positions." Students must be high school seniors and demonstrate they have clear goals, a commitment to post secondary education, career vision and perseverance. Value of a scholarship could be up to $10,000 per student.

Annual program, institute held in April.
Application: Apply through school principal or counselor.
Who: Public high school and charter school sophomores/juniors in  Modoc, Siskiyou, Shasta, Trinity and Tehama Counties. Also eligible are students in Lassen County who attend Big Valley High School
What: Five day outdoor education program in Yosemite National Park.
The goal is inspire students to be stewards of our natural resources. Students must complete 8 hours of community service related to the environment.
Cost: Tuition and transportation are provided by the McConnell Foundation.

California Partnership Academies Funding

California Partnership Academies funds are available from the Economic and Workforce Development program and Shasta College in an effort to spur career and technical education in the North state. These funds are available to secondary educators in Shasta, Trinity and Tehama Counties (the Shasta College attendance area) that wish to meet and explore development of smaller learning communities with a career theme. The Center houses the Reference Library and the Foundation Center database for grant research and is accessible to the community.   Free, assistance available.  Interested parties must come in, research is not possible from home or work computers, only available from the center's dedicated computer terminal and search engine.

Funds for "Youth to Youth" civic participation programs, artists and arts organizations, community celebrations are examples of projects funded. Grant writing workshops are also available. Scholarships are also available.&

What: Project Learning tree - Green Works provides grants to service learning programs such as schools and youth groups. The Focus of funded projects should be environmental improvement and have a local business or community organization to partner with. Funding may range from $250 to $5,000.

California School Garden Network

Multiple grants opportunities are listed on this website. Grants are available for the promotion, creation and support of instructional school gardens. Funds are to be used for garden equipment, supplies and/or professional development. The grants are non-competitive and will be awarded as long as funds are available. Schools will receive up to $2,500 per grant, schools with enrollment of 1,000 or more may receive up to $5,000. Grant application must be submitted through your school district or county office of education.

Funds: Grants range from $10,000 to $200,000
Who: Applicants must be either a charity, public agency, school district or federally recognized tribe.
What: The Stewardship Council funds under served youth by connecting them to outdoor experiences via outdoor education programs, development of community parks and service learning activities in the outdoors. The council holds yearly grant writing workshops around California, including Chico and Redding. For more information on funded projects and grant writing workshops call or check the website.

Youth Camping Grants - Lassen Park Foundation

Grants are available to enhance camping experiences for disadvantaged youth. Up to one week of camping funding is available for non-profit youth groups and schools.
Grants up to $1,000 can include funding for transportation, food, equipment costs or rental. The Crags Campground group campsite accommodates a maximum of 25 people - up to 18 youth and 7 adults.

Youth Garden Grants - Home Depot and National Gardening Foundation
Amount: Gift Cards, $250 to $1,000

Who: Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps and treatment facilities for youth.
Applicants must plan a garden with 15 children between the ages of 3 and 18 years of age. Check the website for the application.
