The East Bay Environmental Education Network (EBEEN) invites East Bay providers to participate in our June networking event.

Come network with other East Bay EE Providers and learn strategies and gather contacts to build collaborative professional development for teachers while partnering with other EE organizations. A panel of experts will share best practices in developing collaborative teacher professional development models and provide solutions to potential barriers and challenges.

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (optional working lunch with EBEEN Steering Committee)

Location: UC Botanical Garden, 200 Centennial Drive Berkeley, CA 94720

Directions & Parking: UCBG is located in Strawberry Canyon between Cal Memorial Stadium and Grizzly Peak Blvd. Visit the Garden's website for directions and parking rates. Bay Area Science Project @ Lawrence Hall of Science Present a K – 5 Outdoor Education Institute "Taking Science Outside"
June 21 ~ 25, 2010, 9:00 am ~ 3:30 pm

  • Institute Activities will Deepen adult level science content knowledge based on the CA Life Science Standards
  • Provide outdoor experiences and trainings in partnership with EE Organizations
  • Model effective inquiry-based science pedagogy
  • Explore the new FOSS “Taking Science Outdoors” curricular lessons for grades K – 5
  • Model the use of science notebooks in all activities
  • Participants will Receive half of registration fee paid by school/district as stipend upon completing the 5-day institute
  • Receive free curricular materials and a lunch each day
  • Receive a $200 stipend for attending 4 outdoor follow-ups during the academic year*
  • Be eligible for Upper Division/Post BA units (at participant’s own expense)
  • Cost Sliding scale from $400-$1,200 registration fee per teacher to be paid by school or district
