 Solano Environmental Education Symposium

On Wednesday May 5th 2010, Solano RCD will be hosting a day-long symposium for participants with an interest in Environmental Education in Solano County.  The meeting will be at the Rush Ranch Education Center on Suisun Marsh. http://www.solanolandtrust.org/o_l_rushRanch.php The Symposium will convene participants from the 2008 – 2009 Solano County Environmental Educators meetings and additional stakeholders for a facilitated discussion of opportunities for sharing resources.
We are planning to offer morning presentations on:

-         The California Environmental Protection Agency’s new California Environmental Education Initiative and opportunities for environmental educators to extend this curriculum outside of the classroom
-         Models for coordinating with the public school system
-         Funding development
-         And a panel discussion of the goals, successes and challenges of Environmental Educators’ groups in neighboring counties

The afternoon will center around a facilitated group discussion designed to look toward the future of the Solano Environmental Educators group:

-         How can we continue to work together and share resources?
-         What are the priority areas or projects on which we should collaborate?

We welcome everyone’s ideas, perspectives, and experiences.

Lunch and light breakfast items will be provided.
We’re looking forward to a fun and productive day on the edge of beautiful Suisun Marsh!
