Riders can sign up to ride with Mayor Chuck Reed on Earth Day, April 22nd. The ride check-in starts at 11:30AM, and will return to City Hall at 12:45PM.

"Going Green" Brown Bag Workshop for Businesses

<st1:place><st1:placename><o:p><o:p>Attendees will be inspired by the activities that certified green businesses (from large to small!) in Sunnyvale are doing to reduce their environmental impact and save money through waste reduction, pollution prevention, energy-efficiency and water conservation. Representatives from two certified Sunnyvale Green Businesses - Palm, Inc. and Sports Basement - will offer inspiring examples of how they have implemented environmental initiatives in the workplace. </o:p></o:p></st1:placename></st1:place><st1:place><st1:placename><o:p><o:p>Santa Clara County Green Business Program staff will discuss how your business can become Green Business certified.</o:p></o:p></st1:placename></st1:place>

Community Discussion on the Zero Waste Study Issue

"Zero Waste” is a philosophy and design principle that goes beyond recycling to take a far-reaching systems approach to the flow of resources and waste through society. <st1:city><st1:place></st1:place></st1:city><st1:city><st1:place>Sunnyvale</st1:place></st1:city>
’s City Council will be considering Zero Waste policy options in 2008. <o:p></o:p>The City’s Recycling/Solid Waste staff will hold an informational meeting, which will include a review of Zero Waste policies and waste reduction/recycling programs from other cities, in order to engage business and residential community members in a discussion on the options that would best fit our community. <o:p></o:p>

An online input form will also be available by April 30 on the Recycling Program's zero waste study issue webpage to allow those that are unable to attend the community discussion to provide comments.
