SEE Program Workshops

SCHOOL ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM WORKSHOP

Concerned about out-of-control energy costs? The School Energy
Efficiency (SEE) Program is funding two workshops for Central Valley
school district administrators, teachers, and facility managers to
learn how energy efficiency improvements can help schools reduce their
energy costs and enhance learning conditions for students and staff.
Fifty five school districts in the Central Valley have actively
participated in the SEE Program and received energy efficiency
educational and facility

improvement services. These workshops, scheduled for November 17th in
Bakersfield, and November 18th in Madera, will provide a forum for
these schools to share their experiences with other schools in the
Valley and explain how they implemented effective energy efficiency
activities, particularly demonstration projects that use school site
energy retrofits as a “teaching tool” for students to learn about
energy efficiency and conservation.

Technologies to be showcased will include:

solar tubes that allow natural daylight into buildings

high efficient HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) technologies

the latest high-tech lighting products and much more. These
workshops will also provide free instructional materials aligned to
State standards and free resources to help schools identify the most
cost-effective strategies to improve their energy efficiency. The day
will conclude with a tour of the

demonstration project at the host site.

For registration and a detailed agenda, please contact:

Richard Burkhart of ADM Associates by email at workshops@adm-energy.com

Education and the Environment Initiative Assembly Bill 1548

Environmental education providers and representatives of non-profit
organizations are invited to attend meetings to learn about the work
undertaken thus far to implement the Education and the Environment
Initiative [EEI] (Assembly Bill 1548 [Pavley, Chapter 665, Statutes of
2003]).

The Education and the Environment Initiative was signed into law in
Ocrober 2003. It mandates the development of a unified strategy
to bring education about the environment into California's K-12
schools. Specifically, this law requires:

Development of education principles and concepts for the environment;

Alignment of the environmental principles and concepts to
California's academic content standards to ensure that students achieve
mastery;

Development of a model curriculum for K-12 schools;

Incorporation of the environmental principles and concepts into
criteria for textbook adoption in science, history/social science,
English/language arts and mathematics; and

Alignment of the state's diverse environmental education programs with the environmental principles and concepts.

The purpose of this listening session is to bring stakeholders up to
date on the progress made in implementing the Initiative, answer any
questions, and share the next steps. The Education and the
Environment Initiative represents landmark legislation - your
involvement is encouraged. Please RSVP through the CalEPA website;
pre-registration is required
(http://www.calepa.ca.gov/Education/AB1548/). We look forward to

Tips - How to build your CREEC webpage

The first place to check when you need help is the HELP button in the editors line directly above...see it? It will take you to the Manila Newbies tutorial website to guide you through the ins and outs of understanding this easy web authoring system. Check out the html page for help with the html tags normal people can't remember.

Sometimes we CREEC Coordinators just need a little reminder. When you push the edit this page button below, you'll be able to see some common tags. Cut the little formula and paste it in the page you are building. Check out the html formula website for a quick tutorial regarding html tags.
---
***Linking

Websites are all about links, and the CREEC website makes it easy to do.

The Add Link button at the top toolbar will link to an outside website.

The title of any page within your CREEC website becomes an automatic link when you write that title on put it in quotation marks.

The Shortcuts button at the top of the page also makes it easy!

Sample of an email link: Chris Cameron

Sample linking to another website: Region 8 CREEC

---
***FONTS - Type Styles, Colors, Size, and Lists:

Offset bulleted or numbered lists are mad by putting the letters ul (unordered list) in brackets, then stopping the list by placing ul after the slash in brackets.
Bulleted lists then need li (for list) in brackets before each bulleted item.

Bold: bold. Three asterisks before a word or line will also make it bold... like ***this!

Italic: italic

Underline: underline

To change the font face, you need to put the title of the font in brackets like this: Courier New, Verdana, and so on...

Colors: RED, BLUE GREEN

Not enough color choices? Check out this page for more! Just put the name of the color you like into the equation.

Font Size:

Plus One

Plus Two

Plus Three

Statewide for those which serve the entire state

Region 6a for those which serve any part of Region 6a (will not include statewide resources)

County to narrow your search to those which serve an individual county (will not include statewide resources)

You can also Search the entire state CREEC directory for an EE Provider or Program/Resource by clicking on the appropriate Search link. Using the search form, you can search by criteria such as city, grade level, program type, and EE focus.

Join the CREEC Directory

If you are an Environmental Education Provider and you do not locate your organization and its programs and resources in the directory, you can submit your information online. All submissions must be approved by CREEC administrators.
