The California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Network is an educational project supported by the California Department of Education, Environmental Education Program, in collaboration with state, regional and local partners. The CREEC Network is the best source for Environmental Education resources in California.

Our online, searchable Resource Directory includes Environmental Education providers and programs/resources available to educators in your area. Please look at our calendar and find environmental education activities and exhibits, funding opportunities, and teacher professional development opportunities.

Please contact your local coordinator and they will be happy to assist you with your environmental education needs. Check out this compilation of curriculum resources.

At the first-ever White House Summit on Environmental Education, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson announced the formation of an interagency task force on Environmental Education, to be co-led by EPA and the U.S. Departments of Education and Interior.

The Education & the Environment Initiative (EEI) curriculum
The 2011/12 school year is underway in classrooms around the state. As teachers and
students head back to school, the Office of Education and the Environment and the CREEC Network is spreading the word out about the free online availability of the landmark EEI Curriculum. Brochures and catalogs of the units are available by request to support your work. Grade level DVD.’s of the EEI Curriculum units are also available for teachers and for those teachers who attend a teacher orientation and complete our online pre-survey, we are providing a print copy of one EEI Curriculum unit of their choice.

New materials will be completed in the next few months, including the EEI Curriculum User’s Guide and additional resources to assist our partners including the CREEC Coordinators. Please check the website regularly for new materials at http://www.CaliforniaEEI.org.

TEACHERS –
Are you going to use the new EEI curriculum this school year?
Any teacher who is going to utilize EEI curriculum units needs to fill out a Pre-Survey. This survey asks not only which unit they are going to teach, but also about other green and environmental efforts at their school and classroom. This survey can be accessed directly at: http://www.calepa.ca.gov/Education/EEI/Surveys/Default.htm.
Please note that the teacher editions are password protected and you have to fill out the web form on the curriculum unit page first before you can access the teacher’s editions.

EE PROVIDERS - Now is the time to think about linking your program with specific EEI units. As Central Valley schools begin to utilize this curriculum we hope to enhance the experience by providing teachers with local connections to outdoor education. Follow this link to review a catalog of the EEI units to see which ones overlap with the content of your program. http://www.calepa.ca.gov/Education/EEI/documents/ExLiteracy.pdf. For specific details on linking to the EEI units and the Learning Objective click on the For Providers link.
