San Joaquin River Stewardship Program: The San Joaquin River Stewardship Program is an educational program for students and teachers designed to promote awareness of the importance of watershed health, engage participants in community-based service-learning projects, and provide an integrating context for classroom curriculum.
The program believes that “if students become aware of their watersheds, become educated about the needs of their watersheds, understand the effects of human activities on their watersheds, and discover ways to become involved in their watershed, they will act more responsibly to preserve, protect and enhance them.”
The San Joaquin River Stewardship Program is a joint project of the Fresno Central Watershed Education Program and the Fresno County Office of Education. The program is funded by a grant from the CALFED Bay-Delta Program and hosted at Scout Island Education Center in Fresno. www.scoutisland.org/stewardship For more inforamtion please contact: Steve Starcher 559-289-8874
