• What is the CREEC Network?
California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Network
is a new and developing program of the California Department of
Education. It was established to make links between providers of high
quality environmental education curriculum, resources and materials,
and the classroom teachers who use it. The ultimate goal of the CREEC
Network is to enhance the environmental literacy of students.(For more

• What does it actually do?
Identifies providers, evaluates EE curriculum and materials on a
regular basis, and develops and maintains websites, listserves,
discussion boards, and publishes periodic newsletters to disseminate
the information and latest news to all educators in the respective
regions.

CREEC will peer review your materials and resources, post your contact
information on the website and publish the information in the
newsletters, make announcements regarding new developments, and make
your materials more easily accessible through classification by subject
areas and search engine retrieval.
You will be notified of
Requests for Grant Proposals and funding opportunities as they arise
via the listserve. The CREEC website will maintain up to date lists of
Grants and Funding Sources for both educators and program/project
developers.

• How is it funded?
The start up funding for CREEC came from the California Department of
Education Environmental Education Grants in partnership with the
California Integrated Waste Management Board, the California Department
of Water Resources, and the California Air Resources Board.
In
order to sustain what we have developed sponsors must be found and
local partnerships must be formed within each of the regions.
