PG &E Solar School Program:

PG&E offers the Solar School Program in which a 1.3 kw photovoltaic system is donated to underserved communities within the PG&E service area in Central and Northern California.  http://www.pge.com/solarschools/
Also on the PG&E website www.pge.com there is a For Teachers link that includes free curriculum for grades K � 8 called �The Energenius Program.�

Climate Check Program EPA:
Climate CHECK The Climate CHange Emission Calculator Kit is a step-by-step greenhouse gas inventory tool for schools. The program is designed primarily for high school students to investigate the connections among everyday actions at their school, greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change. Students can conceptualize ways to mitigate their school�s impact on the environment. For more information visit: http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/wycd/school.html


San Joaquin River Stewardship Program:
The San Joaquin River Stewardship Program is an educational program for students and teachers designed to promote awareness of the importance of watershed health, engage participants in community-based  service-learning projects, and provide an integrating context for classroom curriculum.

The program believes that �if students become aware of their watersheds, become educated about the needs of their watersheds, understand the effects of human activities on their watersheds, and discover ways to become involved in their watershed, they will act more responsibly to preserve, protect and enhance them.�

The San Joaquin River Stewardship Program is a joint project of the Fresno Central Watershed Education Program and the Fresno County Office of Education.  The program is funded by a grant from the CALFED Bay-Delta Program and hosted at Scout Island Education Center in Fresno. http://www.scoutisland.org/

Apprentice Ecologist Initiative
The goal of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative is to elevate young people (including disadvantaged and at risk youth) into leadership roles by engaging them in environmental stewardship projects.  A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to the author of the top Apprentice Ecologist essay.  http://www.wildernessproject.org/volunteer_apprentice_ecologist.
