Gold Coast Science Network - A Taste of Science Conference
Join science teachers and educators for the GCSN Fall Science Conference. The day will include workshops, vendors and keynote speakers. Come network with other science teachers from the Tri-County area. Bring home classroom ready lessons, materials and ideas. Register with Debbie Bereki at P.O. Box 390, Fillmore, CA 93106. Oceans LIVE Portal
The National Geographic Society and National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration have released a series of lesson plans and educational videos about mankind's relationship with water. Features 12 lesson plans covering everything ocean -related, including land formations, volcanoes, marine life, underwater habitats, maritime cultures, and even shipwrecks. Each lesson plan comes with a short online video that explores one of NOAA's national marine sanctuaries. Best suited for science, geography, and history K-8 teachers, the multimedia lesson plans meet national standards for science education, geography, and ocean literacy. www.oceanslive.org/portal/
6th Grade Earth Science Teachers
You are invited to apply for grants to develop curriculum that will incorporate lessons understanding our atmosphere and global warming, also known as global climate change. The deadline for applications (through the Santa Barbara County Education Office) is December 1st. Exploring Morro Bay Estuary
An Interactive Adventure Through Our Local Treasure – CD ROMFor teachers who plan to the Exploring Morro Bay Estuary CD-ROM as an educational tool in their science curricula, the Friends of Los Osos Library offers School Sets at a special rate of $5.00 per CD-ROM included in the set.
Teachers and school officials may request a School Set for a classroom or a computer lab. The number of CDs in a set will vary by class or lab size, but the maximum is set at 35 per school. In the past, schools have received assistance financing school sets through our partnership with the Morro Bay National Estuary Program. www.mbnep.org

Project Learning Tree (PLT) has developed new secondary EE materials to give students an awareness of the environmental, social, and economic impacts of decisions connected to community growth and change. Exploring Environmental Issues: Places We Live gets students exploring their own neighborhoods, learning about their community's development through time, and involved in local community action projects.
