Rachel Carson Sense of Wonder Contest

Participate in the It's My Environment video project coordinated by the EPA. Make a personal commitment to make environmental protection a part of your daily life. Ocean Video CompetitionDeadline June 30, 2010 The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Blue Ocean Film Festival are hosting a regional ocean video competition for students. The goal is to showcase student-developed original videos that educate the general public about the ocean and the importance of ocean conservation. Winners will be selected and announced on July 21, 2010 and have an opportunity to present their video at the Blue Ocean Film Festival August 24-29, 2010.

Eligibility

Elementary (grades 4 & 5), middle school (6-8), high school (9-12) and college students enrolled schools in Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito or San Luis Obispo counties are eligible. An individual student or team of students can produce a video. Teams are encouraged!  Students in grades 4-12 must have an adult “coach” who is responsible for them.

• All submitted videos will remain the property of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) and Blue Ocean Film Festival. Entrants must allow the MBNMS and Blue Ocean Film Festival permission to use their submission for public education. 

Submitting the Video In order for a video submission to be eligible, the video team must submit the following items together to the MBNMS Office:

1. Video Contest Entry Form (included).

2. Hard copy of the video (See the “Video Requirements” section of this document for more details.)

3. Please mail the entry form and video to:
