Camp Ocean Pines is hosting three weekend retreats in January focused on Marine Mammals.

Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: GRAY WHALE RESEARCH FROM SHORE

The American Cetacean Society-Channel Islands is seeking volunteers to participate in a Gray Whales Count (GWC), a census of the northbound gray-whale migration. Volunteers are needed to observe from Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve in Goleta. The Count will proceed daily from January 28 through May 14, 2006. No previous experience is needed. Observer shifts are 2 hours, and we are looking for volunteers who are willing to commit to one shift per week for multiple weeks during the census.
