Teacher’s Ag Seminar in Kern County – July 27 – 29, 2009
For over sixteen years the Kern County Farm Bureau and the Kern Agricultural Foundation have teamed up with the Superintendent of Schools and local businesses to host the Teacher’s Ag Seminar (TAS). The seminar makes it possible for educators to learn more about today’s agriculture through the three days of lectures by farmer/rancher experts, tours of farms and processing facilities, hands on experiences, and the final day is a day with a farmer (small groups 2-5 spend the day with a farmer/rancher). This past August teachers participated from Kern County and Southern California. Established in 1992 over 510 teachers have benefited from the in-depth course on the complexity and importance of agriculture.
