SanDELA FAQ's
- What kinds of projects are eligible?
- Any project that involves STUDENT ACTION related to environmental topics, and connects the actions to learning activities. Projects might be stormwater pollution prevention, native plant gardens, restoring a natural area near the school, a public education campaign, or a recycling program. We are looking forward to a wide variety of creative submissions, so please do not limit yourself to these topics!
- What kinds of projects are not eligible?
- Projects with no student action component are not eligible. Projects with religious or political bias are not eligible.
- Can I submit (and receive an honorarium for) more than one project?
- At this time we are only able to make one award to an individual. This policy could be revised in the future depending on the volume of high quality submissions. So go ahead and submit more than one project if you wish.
- My project is used for multiple grade levels, is that okay?
- That is fine, simply indicate the grade levels in your submission.
- I have a fantastic project idea and plan, but I haven’t used it with students yet- can I still submit it?
- Yes, you may submit it.
- Do I have to align my project to the CA Standards and EEI Principles and Concepts?
- No, SanDELA staff will create an alignment, and we will ask you to review it. If you have aligned your project, that’s great and we’ll have you submit it.
- Do I have to research the field trip/guest speaker/resource section?
- No, SanDELA staff will create a list, and we will ask you to review it. If you have a list or ideas your project, that’s great and we’ll have you submit them.
- I think that I have a project to submit but I’m not sure it’s a “fit”.
- The submission form is not lengthy so you may just want to enter your project. Or, you can send an email to Adrienne Marriott, email clickable at left, to get an opinion on your idea.
- How will I know if submissions are still being accepted for my grade level(s)?
- Any grade levels that are complete (do not require further submissions) will be listed here.
