Coastweeks 2008

Each fall, people all over the country participate in COASTWEEKS, a celebration of our coastal and water resources.

This year the event takes place from September 20 to October 11, kicked off by International Coastal Cleanup Day.

In California, COASTWEEKS is coordinated by the California Coastal Commission. The Commission will feature a calendar of events in a special section of our website, and we'll be conducting outreach to publicize it. Special events created for COASTWEEKS and prescheduled coast- and water-related events are eligible. This celebration is a great way to participate in a nation-wide effort to encourage appreciation and preservation of our coast and our inland waterways. And it's free!

You can submit an event to the calendar as long as it is open to the public and relates in a positive way to the coast, ocean, waterways, or water in general. The event can be free or cost money (just be sure to give Annie the details).

If you'd like to publicize your coast- or water-related event(s) on the website during COASTWEEKS, please visit http://www.coastal.ca.gov/publiced/coastweeks/coastweeks.html to download an event form, or refer Annie to event information on your website.

We will accept event submissions until July 28, and the calendar will go online August 1.
