CREEC Network

California Regional Environmental Education Community

Some Benefits of Being a CREEC Network Partner

Learn more about the CREEC Network and Environmental Education (EE) by visiting the web site www.creec.org. Call Bill Andrews, CREEC Network Director, at (916) 322-9503 to discuss how your organization can benefit from joining the network. General benefits include
  • Coordinated access to educators in schools, districts, universities, museums, parks...
CREEC Coordinators and Education Partners work directly with tens of thousands of California's educators each year in schools, districts, county offices of education, and at public fairs and events through CREEC workshops, professional conferences, faculty meetings, the www.creec.org website, and CREEC Network's online Searchable Resource Directory.
  • Reduced costs by using the network to target new regions and more diverse audiences
US EPA, California Integrated Waste Management Board, and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection previously funded mini-grants ($1,000 to $5,000 per CREEC Network region) to expand outreach to educators. CREEC Network administered the grants and provided the partners with regional work plans and results. The partners accomplish their objectives without expanding their own staffs.
  • Heightened visibility for partner names on CREEC Network website, posters, brochures, and other publications and videos
The Walt Disney and PG&E supported production of a CREEC Network color poster. Their corporate names and logos were printed on each poster and helped communicate their corporate commitment to environmental conservation to over 150,000 educators and three million students.
  • Enhanced leadership opportunities to guide regional and statewide policy and decision making activities that will improve the quantity and quality of EE in California
Partners are invited to public input sessions, statewide EE leadership conferences, and service on regional and statewide EE task forces and leadership teams where they work alongside other government, non-profit, foundation, and corporate partners
  • Increased credibility and visibility for educational programs and materials
Over 1,000 EE providers and nearly 2,000of their programs and products have been screened for content accuracy, balance, age appropriateness, and other pre-requisites for use in California Public Schools and listing on the CREEC Network's online Searchable Resource Directory. Partners' programs are promoted through 13 regional CREEC Network newsletters, electronic list servers, calendars, and searchable websites.
  • Focused professional development for partner agency staff
Partners' staff receive individualized technical assistance from 20 experienced CREEC Network coordinators and managers; guidance aligning EE resources with current research and California standards and frameworks; and opportunities to attend and contribute to EE workshops, conferences, and planning meetings.
